The aye-aye was found by Pierre Sonnerat in 1780, it was delivered to Paris by that traveler being the only one recognized until 1860. The Aye-aye is an amazingly bizarre mixture of rodent-like tooth with a long, thin middle finger to fill the same niche as a woodpecker. It’s an oddly elongated center finger is used to drag grubs out of trees after having tapped on them and gnawed holes. It kind of resembles a goat, if you look past the rodent like options that is. The Aye-Aye is the world’s largest nocturnal primate.
